Revena, a Brazilian artificial-intelligence company for hospital billing and revenue cycle, announced a USD 7.6 million (BRL 40 million) seed round on 3 February 2026, led by Canary with Flourish Ventures and Caravela Capital. It matters for its size, typical of a Series A, and because the capital goes into the hospital’s financial layer, where revenue already earned gets lost.
The transaction
- Company. Revena, founded in 2024 by Mateus Noronha, co-founder of Eduqo, and Diogo Freitas, from the founding team of Buser (LatamList). The platform connects to the hospital management system, cross-references clinical data, payer contracts and hospital protocols, and generates and audits the medical bill.
- Instrument and amount. Seed round of USD 7.6 million, BRL 40 million. Valuation not disclosed.
- Investors. Canary as lead investor; Flourish Ventures and Caravela Capital.
- Use of proceeds. Strengthen the product team and extend the platform to cover the full revenue cycle (LatamList).
- Status. Closed. LatamList publishes the story under the name “Ravena”; Startupz and the company itself write “Revena”.
Value drivers
Reference clients. More than 60 hospitals and four of the ten largest hospital networks in Brazil (Startupz). In our reading, a financial product for hospitals sells by reference, and having the large networks in the base removes the main commercial risk of a seed round.
Growth rate. The company grew more than 20 times in 2025 and projects a tenfold increase in 2026 (Startupz). The round size, unusual for a seed, is consistent with that curve.
Quantified outcome. The platform identifies between 5% and 12% of avoidable losses in billing, cuts manual auditing by 55% to 75% and closes accounts within 48 hours. Each figure translates into cash for the hospital, which allows outcome-linked pricing.
Proprietary data. By reading payer contracts and clinical data on every bill, the company accumulates, in our reading, an asset that improves with each connected hospital and that a late competitor cannot replicate with capital.
Founders with a track record. Two founders who have already built venture-backed companies reduce the execution risk a lead investor discounts at seed.
What the market is signalling
For a Mexican founder, the signal is that regional funds are willing to fund Series A-sized seeds when the product already bills large institutional clients and shows a quantified return. Billing between private hospitals and insurers in Mexico still relies on manual auditing, and a company that cuts that cost with figures comparable to Revena’s has a recent regional pricing comparable.
For Mexican hospital groups, the reading is one of purchase or partnership: revenue lost to claim denials and billing errors is recoverable with software, and the hospitals that adopt first set the standard with insurers. For a lender, a seed round is not a debt stage; it will be once multi-year contracts with hospital networks back recurring revenue.
G2’s reading for a mandate
A round of this profile is prepared with a data room that documents, hospital by hospital, the avoidable loss identified, the actual recovery and the reduction in auditing hours. That material supports both the round’s valuation and negotiations with clients, and prevents the investment committee from discounting the figures for lack of verification. If the company competes with hospital-software vendors, it pays to decide at seed whether the goal is to scale with funds or to join a strategic buyer.
