Telepatia, an artificial intelligence clinical platform deployed in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Argentina, announced on 17 June 2026 a USD 33 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz. It matters for its speed: the company launched in 2025, closed a USD 9 million seed in October of that year and has now raised USD 42 million, with hospital adoption metrics few healthtechs in the region have published.
The transaction
Series A of USD 33 million. Lead investor: Andreessen Horowitz. Shyam Sankar, chief technology officer of Palantir, Simón Borrero, founder of Rappi, and David Vélez, founder of Nubank, participated. Cumulative capital: USD 42 million. Valuation and instrument were not disclosed. The USD 9 million seed (20 October 2025) was led by A-Star, with Canary, Abstract, Picus, SV Angel and Nido.
The company was founded by Nicolás Abad. The sources do not agree on its headquarters: The Next Web describes it as a Colombian startup; LatamList placed its headquarters in Brazil when reporting the seed; a16z refers to operations in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. Its product transcribes consultations in real time, reviews records, flags drug interactions and provides decision support, plus “AI healthcare workers” for physician, nursing and audit functions. According to a16z, it serves more than 14 million patients across more than 25 hospital systems; protocol adherence rose from 84% to 99%, physicians recover 1.7 hours a day and 60,000 errors were prevented in real time. Among its clients, The Next Web cites Mater Dei, Kora Saúde and Hapvida in Brazil and public networks in Bogotá, Medellín and Barranquilla. Proceeds will fund regional expansion and entry into India, Africa and Southeast Asia.
Value drivers
Concentrated distribution. a16z notes that the region’s 100 largest health institutions employ half of its physicians. Selling to hospital systems rather than individual physicians explains how a one-year-old company reaches 14 million patients.
Clinical metrics, not usage metrics. Protocol adherence, errors prevented and hours recovered are variables a medical director and an insurer can convert into cost. In our reading, that translation into loss ratio and productivity is what supports a Series A of this size with no published revenue.
An investor table with access. The founders of Rappi and Nubank and Palantir’s chief technology officer bring relationships with hospital groups, regulators and buyers of mission-critical software. It is a distribution asset as much as a capital one.
Scarcity of comparables. We know of no other AI clinical platform in the region with equivalent published metrics. That scarcity, in our reading, pushes valuation up for the apparent leader and does not transfer to the rest of the sector.
What the market is signalling
For Mexico, Telepatia already operates in the country and competes for the same hospital relationship that Eden, Konko AI and Leona Health pursue from different angles. Mexican hospital groups and insurers will receive clinical AI proposals with metrics of this kind, and will compare them against each other; whoever lacks them will be left out of the conversation.
For Mexican digital health founders, the signal is twofold: global funds pay for quantified clinical evidence and prefer companies present in several countries from year one. For lenders, a company with USD 42 million of equity and contracts with hospital systems is a venture debt candidate at the next stage, although no source reports debt.
G2’s reading for a mandate
Preparing a clinical AI round in Mexico requires defining from the outset the outcome metrics an investment committee has already seen at Telepatia: protocol adherence, events prevented and physician time recovered, with the measurement methodology documented. In a sell-side to a hospital group, those same figures are the basis for valuing the savings at the counterparty and setting the price with reference to them, not to revenue multiples.
