Baubap

First debt facility · Amount undisclosed

Baubap is a regulated non-bank lender (SOFOM) that grants microloans through an app and assesses each applicant’s risk with proprietary technology, without querying the credit bureau. In its first years of operation it determined that meaningful growth would require institutional debt. G2 defined the financing strategy, sized the required funding for the origination targets with a financial model and presented the company to potential lenders, through the closing of its first debt facility with Alfin.

Context

Baubap broadens access to credit for the mass market with an app and a proprietary risk engine. To scale origination it needed a funding source other than equity.

Challenge

Secure a first institutional debt line with no prior financing track record, with the information and metrics a credit committee requires.

What G2 did

G2 built the debt financing strategy, quantified with a financial model the funding required for the growth and origination targets, and presented the company to potential lenders.

Outcome

The company’s first debt facility, provided by Alfin. Amount undisclosed.
