Cacao

Sale to Dock · Amount undisclosed

Cacao was a Banking as a Service platform that let any company issue cards and process payments without building its own infrastructure. In 2022 it was acquired by Dock. G2 advised the company through its sale to a strategic acquirer. Before the transaction, the firm had worked with Cacao on redesigning its organizational structure and processes to sustain rapid growth, so the company arrived at the deal with an orderly operation and clear performance metrics.

Context

Cacao ran a card-issuing and payment-processing platform for third parties. Rapid growth and scaling prospects demanded order and structure in current and future operations.

Challenge

Align activities and role profiles with the scale the operation required, improve execution and productivity, and define performance metrics that allowed managers and teams to self-manage.

What G2 did

G2 diagnosed processes, people and systems through in-depth interviews, data analysis and document review, tested against the founders' vision and business metrics. It then proposed a new organizational structure with org charts, role descriptions, processes and metrics by function, plus an implementation plan. It later advised the company on its sale to Dock.

Outcome

Cacao was acquired by Dock in 2022.
